Music in the Mountains is a free outdoor concert series that runs all summer in Big Sky, about 40 minutes from Bozeman. Food trucks arrive around 6, and the music starts at 7. We love Music in the Mountains, we usually hit Ousel Falls before it starts, and then get a spot right near the front of the stage. We bring a blanket, but many people bring beach chairs.
Crowds aren’t bad at all, and this event is family friendly for sure, though not dog friendly. The 4th of July weekend is a little more crowded, as are any weekends that have other events. But usually the crowds aren’t bad at all.
Parking can be a little tricky, try not to use up business parking. There is a parking lot both behind the stage, and another one behind the shopping center directly across from the stage.
The food is really good, with everything from Thai to cookies to pizza to margaritas last year! You can bring in your own food as well. I recommend bringing a soft frisbee, football, or something else for kids to do while waiting for the music to start.
You’ll love watching the sun sink lower over the mountains as live music plays and your children boogie 🙂
